Storm McGonagall: A Hogwarts Fanfic: A Discovery

Book One (I might write multiple books, like the HP series), Chapter 1

Storm would always remember the exact moment on which she learned that she was – is – a witch. It was on December 2,  her eleventh birthday. Her mother – the only family Storm had – wasn't there, she was working. She had always told Storm that she worked at a boarding school for teenagers, which was somewhat true. Hogwarts is a boarding school, for kids from age eleven to seventeen. The only thing her mother had never mentioned was that Hogwarts is a school for wizards. There was, of course, a reason for her mother not to tell: a child could easily try to impress his or her friends with the information. Not that Storm's mother had to worry about that – Strom didn't have any friends. Anyway, on Storm's birthday at her own boarding school, she was expecting a letter from her mother. She always got a letter from her mother on her birthday. It would be a letter on parchment-like paper, written in an old-fashioned way. During Christmas break Storm would get her present – when her mother could hand it to her in person. But this year, there was no letter from her mother. There was  only one letter, which came from Hogwarts. Storm was flabbergasted. Hogwarts? The school where her mother taught? A school for wizards? Of course, there had been incidents, the last one had been only a week ago. The biggest bully, Hunter, had followed her when she had gone jogging. Just before she started with a sprint, he, and his friends, had surrounded the small girl. Because that was how Storm looked: a small, slender girl, no friends, no family. Except for a mother who didn't care about her. But that's only how Storm looked. She was, in fact, strong. She was slender and small too, but very strong. Not strong enough to shove a 14-year-old that was at least a foot taller than her – and three times as fat – into a tree, though. That had been her magic. Hunter had not bullied her since. Officially, this fight was the reason Storm's mother would send her to another school. Of course, the real reason was that Storm would attend Hogwarts. At least, that's what the letter said. The letter that was in the same envelope as the Hogwarts letter.
'My dearest daughter,

Congratulations. Congratulations and welcome to the wizard world. I am very proud of you. From now on, you'll be attending Hogwarts – the school where I teach. The official reason will be that boy you shoved into a tree, but the real reason is that almost all of the young wizards and witches attend Hogwarts. I will see you with Christmas, and after Christmas break, you will come with me so you can experience a bit of how things go at Hogwarts. I love you. Happy birthday, Storm McGonagall, and please remember, don't tell anyone about the wizard world.

Much love and pride,

Your mother, Minerva.'

The setting is based on the Harry Potter series. In my fanfiction, Voldemort has never been born. Professors McGonagall and Dumbledore are young, it takes place around the the time that Harry Potter is attending Hogwarts too. All characters are J.K. Rowling's, unless I tell you they're not. Storm McGonagall is my own invention.
